Washington State faces an ongoing affordable housing crisis. Current capital and operations funding fails to meet our state's need, and excessive rent increases threaten the housing stabilities of families throughout Washington. We must take action.
HB 1216/SB 5195 would invest $536 million in affordable housing development through the capital budget—specifically supporting the Housing Trust Fund, Washington’s major state-level source for affordable housing development. This investment from the capital budget would include support for affordable multifamily rental housing, affordable housing that serves people with developmental or intellectual disabilities, and permanent supportive housing through the Apple Health and Homes program.
We must take bold steps to address our state's housing crisis. Ask legislators to support big investments in the Housing Trust Fund!
