Washington State is experiencing a deep affordable housing crisis, which is being felt in every community throughout the state. This crisis cannot be solved without serious and sustained investment. With the Legislature in session, now is the time to call upon our elected leaders to set a Capital Budget that invests in affordable housing and meets the needs of our state.
Governor Ferguson has recently proposed $225 million for the Housing Trust Fund, the backbone of our state’s affordable housing strategy. It is imperative that our legislators at least match the Governor's proposed amount in the Capital Budget.
The Legislature must also make sure the Capital Budget supports the operational funding needs of affordable housing in our state. Recent years have seen skyrocketing operational costs for our housing providers, and we must act quickly and decisively to stabilize the affordable housing sector.
Please use your voice to ask your legislators to meet the needs of affordable housing throughout Washington. We must ensure that all Washingtonians have access to safe, stable, and affordable housing.
The more personal a letter, the more impactful it is. Please customize your letter by adding a personal story, such as sharing how affordable housing funding has impacted you.
