Use Every Tool in the Toolkit to Fund Affordable Homes
This past legislative session HB 1406 was passed allowing local governments, both cities and counties, to keep a part of the local sales tax to use for affordable housing. This is not a new tax, but rather keeps the revenue local to meet communities needs. The timeline for this is tight. Cities have until January 28th, 2020 to issue a resolution of intent indicating that they want to exercise their authority. Because the scale of need in King County is so vast, we are encouraging local governments to pool their resources sub-regionally through existing partnerships to maximize their impact. Send a message to your legislators letting them know we need to be using every tool in the toolkit to fill our housing gap.
Implement 1406!
